Whitney Elizabeth Houston was conceived to a musical family 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey. Whitney is a cousin and daughter to the singing sensation Dionne. However, it was it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard that solidified her status as one the world's most popular performers. While the movie itself and the performances on screen were not widely appreciated, the album's soundtrack and her version to the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You was the top of the charts of albums and singles for a period of time and sold over 44 million copies all over the globe.
